Business Overview
Inproai is a legal tech startup based in Los Angeles with a plain goal: make professional legal advice something everyone can afford. Most people skip legal help because it costs too much and takes too long. Inproai set out to change that with an AI platform that gives fast, accurate, and context-aware legal guidance at a fraction of the usual cost.
They brought Xpiderz in to design and build the platform end to end. The engagement ran twelve weeks, from the first architecture decisions to a working product.
Challenge
An AI that hands out legal guidance cannot afford to guess. Every answer has to be accurate, match the user's jurisdiction, and point back to a real legal source. Off-the-shelf language models do none of that on their own.
The second problem was trust. For users to rely on the platform, its output had to be checked against real legal databases before anyone saw it, with the sources behind each answer laid out in the open. Building that verification and traceability layer, and keeping the whole thing affordable to run, was the core of the job.
Solution
We designed and built a backend architecture tailored for legal reasoning. Advanced pipelines handle prompt generation and output validation, so every piece of guidance the platform gives is accurate, jurisdiction-aware, and traceable back to its source.
The platform runs on AWS, with EC2 and S3 for compute and storage, PostgreSQL for data, a Nest.js backend, and a React frontend. The OpenAI API powers the reasoning layer, wrapped in our own verification checks so raw model output never reaches a user unreviewed.

Prompt Engineering Pipeline
A dynamic system that crafts contextual prompts specific to each legal issue, with legal language adherence, so every query produces a precise, jurisdiction-aware response grounded in applicable law.

A custom verification layer that validates LLM responses against legal databases, checking accuracy and compliance before any guidance reaches a user.

Automated extraction of source references for every answer, giving users transparency, traceability, and confidence in the guidance they receive.

Web scraping powered by BeautifulSoup, Puppeteer, JinaAI, Mendable, and Scrapegraph.ai builds and refreshes a comprehensive legal knowledge base.

Verification and Traceability
Legal guidance is only useful if people can trust it, so verification is not a bolt-on here. Every model response passes through a layer that checks it against legal databases before a user ever sees it.
Alongside the checks, the platform extracts the references behind each answer. Users see where the guidance comes from, which turns a black-box AI into something closer to a cited legal memo.
